Fire Fighting

The high value and sensitivity of the electronic equipment found in modern data centers, combined with the consequences of system interruption, makes fire protection a critical component of any data center risk assessment.

Clean agent systems employ a combination of rapid detection and rapid agent discharge, providing extinguishment of fires in their incipient stage, significantly reducing asset damage due to thermal effects or fire combustion products, allowing facilities to quickly return to service after a fire event. Further, clean agents do not leave corrosive or abrasive residues following their use, eliminating the cost and need for cleanup as well as the potential for longer term equipment operational issues. A gaseous clean agent penetrates into hidden or obscured areas and densely packed cabinets and racks. Consequently, clean agent systems are ideally suited as the first line of defense to protect electronic equipment in mission critical facilities.

UPS Installation

An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is used at Data centre infrastructure management, or DCIM to improve energy efficiency, power availability and other benefits like protecting the critical loads from mains supply problems, including spikes, voltage dips, fluctuations and complete power failures using a dedicated battery. A UPS system can also be used to 'bridge the gap' whilst a standby generator is started and synchronized.

FIRE Suppression Agents

FM-200

This system stops the fire by reducing the heat in the room, thereby leaving no residue to clean up. FM-200 is safe to be around and does not cause much harm to the environment.

Inergen

Inergen is a mix of 8% carbon dioxide, 40% Argon and 52% nitrogen which suppresses the fire by cutting its oxygen supply but still leaving some oxygen for the people to breathe. The only problem with this system is that it takes the longest time to release the agent and has an intricate pipe system.

Immersion Cooling Fluid

This is the most recent and technologically advanced clean agent for fire suppression systems used in data centers. Instead of using active cooling components like interface materials, fans or heat sinks, the heat generated by electronic equipment used in data centers is transferred directly to the cooling fluid. This is done by immersing the hardware in a non-conductive liquid which is also known as the immersion cooling fluid. Apart from reducing the energy usage for cooling the server, this cooling fluid increases hardware density as it is efficient at removing heat and moreover, ensures that a clean and dry process of the electronic equipment is done in a convenient manner.
